      Zerbe Sisters Nursing Center and Woodland Heights occupy a scenic location in northeastern Lancaster County which is complemented by its accessibility. Nearby Churchtown is the epitome of a charming Pennsylvania Dutch community, yet it is only ten minutes from the Morgantown Exit [22] of the Pennsylvania Turnpike [Interstate 76] and 15 minutes from New Holland, the commercial center of northeastern Lancaster County. Zerbe Sisters and Woodland Heights are also readily accessible from the Reading area via Route 176.  Check out the local major roadways.

Shopping and services, including doctor’s offices and banks, are plentiful in nearby Blue Ball, Ephrata, Morgantown, and New Holland. For major shopping, there is a WalMart supercenter in Elverson, Donecker’s in Ephrata, the Park City Mall just west of Lancaster, numerous outlet malls on Route 30 east of Lancaster, the outlets in Reading, and the Berkshire Mall in Reading. In addition, there are many local specialty shops and farm stands which offer hand-made items and fresh homegrown produce. Craft and community fairs add to the variety available in this unique part of the country.

Seven hospitals are located within easy reach of Zerbe Sisters and Woodland Heights, Brandywine Hospital, Ephrata Community Hospital, Lancaster General Hospital, St. Joseph’s Hospital, Reading Hospital, Reading Rehabilitation Hospital, and Pottstown Memorial Hospital. Churches of many denominations are located throughout the area. There are Post Offices in nearby Narvon, Goodville, Bowmansville, and Morgantown and there are community libraries in Ephrata, New Holland, Lancaster, and Leola. Nearby banking services range from quality, community banks like Elverson National Bank and Bank of Lancaster County to larger, money-center banks such as Corestate and Mellon. Public and private golf courses abound in the region and there are many restaurants to choose from ranging from Pennsylvania Dutch cooking to fine gourmet dining.

Driving Directions

From the West: Travel East on Route 23 to Churchtown. Turn Left onto Churchtown Road. At the first “Y” intersection, bear right onto Hammertown Road. At the second “Y” intersection, bear right again, remaining on Hammertown Road. The Woodland Heights entrance is on the right at the top of the hill.

From the East: Travel West on Route 23 through Morgantown. Proceed to the Windmill Restaurant. At the Windmill Restaurant turn Right onto Swamp Road. Take Swamp Road until you come to a stop sign. Continue going straight (the name of the road changes to Hammertown Road) for less than 1 mile. Look for Woodland Heights sign on left.

From the PA. Turnpike: Take the Pennsylvania Turnpike, Interstate 76 to the Morgantown Exit (Exit 22). Follow signs to Route 23. Travel West on Route 23 through Morgantown. Proceed to the Windmill Restaurant. At the Windmill Restaurant turn Right onto Swamp Road. Take Swamp Road until you come to a stop sign. Continue going straight (the name of the road changes to Hammertown Road) for less than 1 mile. Look for Woodland Heights sign on left.
